Google‘s AR platform Tango is being utilized to enhance museum visitors’ experience by adding augmented reality interactivity and extra information to exhibits, starting with the Detroit Institute of Arts. The museum has built a mobile tour called Lumin, which uses Tango capabilities, in partnership with GuidiGO.
Visitors to the Detroit Institute of Arts can ask at the front desk for a Tango-enabled Lenovo Phab 2 Pro phone, which they can use to explore various works, including mummies from Ancient Egypt, the Ishtar Gate from Ancient Babylonia and limestone reliefs from Mesopotamia. Museum visitors will soon be able to use Tango to see, hear and learn more in museums around the world.
